How To: Entertain Yourself when the Entertainment Centers are Somewhat Unreachable

Assalamualaikum

1. Prepare a magazine and a cup of coffee. Add a bit of music and sit by the window. Too bad it's entertaining only for an hour or so and then it gets boring.

2. I'd say, of course, the Great Reorganization. Unfortunately, after looking through almost every available ACE H/W stores around, I couldn't find that simple and sleek aluminum(?) CD shelf to add to my existing 3-story. The new CD's just have to sit around (read: cluttered) at the bedside table for a little while longer.

3. Now this is new: The Great Wardrobe Reorganization. Haha. Creative, huh? :P I actually wanted to redesign my wardrobe. Too bad I'd need a carpenter to do that, as tools and I, we weren't meant for each other.

A bit of a history lesson (warning: potentially boring stuff): the room I'm currently occupying wasn't really my room, it was initially my sister's. Naturally, I didn't quite agree with the paint, nor with the bathroom oceanic color, nor with the wardrobe. And I still don't. Yet somehow I managed to cope with it for about 2 years. Yes, sometimes I amaze myself.

So what I can do for now is to think of the design:

1. The Japanese sliding doors. My idea of having sliding doors, as with the wardrobe in my older room, is to have extra space compared to the usual western doors. Whilst my sister's doors, they consist of two sliding doors in the middle, and two western doors at the left and rightmost side of the wardrobe. So if I slide the door to the right, the rightmost column would be unreachable, even if I open the rightmost door. It's insane. So first thing to do is to get rid of the side doors and attach new sliding doors. Maybe I'll combine the Japanese-pattern door with the all wooden panel.

2. Extra space. My wardrobe is a built-in type, so it is attached to the walls. Now, I just realized, by comparing the wall outside of my room to the depth of my wardrobe, I should have an extra 20-cm space. So next thing to do would be to use all those space I can get. If that means removing the whole rear panel then so be it.

3. Lose the drawers. Drawers are soo last decade. Shelves and neatly arranged creme canvas baskets are the new drawers.

4. Make the existing 3-story shelf a 5-story shelf. The idea is to pile up my clothes to a certain height so as to make it easier to spot the clothes I need and to avoid the potential of having the upper piles get cluttered when I retrieve the lower ones. To do that, I'd need more shelves.

5. I haven't thought of anything else need to be renovated. Will write it down once I remember.

..and yet another year.

Assalamualaikum

It's officially the fourth time in a row we're 'celebrating' new year's eve at my house. The second time in the garage. Menu's the usual: broccoli and mushroom soup, ribeye steak w mushroom sauce, mashed potato w butter, sausages (veal too!) and fries, dried veggies. Itinerary also hadn't changed: games, gossips, and DVDs. The difference is we played cards instead of Uno Stacko.

Yoga came a bit early, the girls (and Iman) came about half an hour before Maghrib with lots of snacks (and three decks of cards!), while Muti showed up a bit late with a box of J.Co. Talk about The Snack of 2006.

Oh and this time Ceuceu's friends are also joining us. With a couple of 6 packs. And a bottle of Bacardi. And wine. Tsk tsk. This time it's not that easy to hide those from Ocit's view. Heheh.

Lesson learned from previous years:
1. The fire should be started an hour before the BBQ began
2. Have someone expert to help light the fire
3. If possible, have someone patient enough to tend the BBQ
Huehehe..

Anyways, the activities, in chronological order: music, BBQ, appetizer, Det. Conan the Movie, dinner, card, the Last Kiss, drinks, New Year, firewoks, more drinks, Material Girls, more card, 13 Ghosts, guys went home, 15-minute slumber party, sleep.

As with tradition, had late breakfast with last night's leftovers. Went to PIM 2. Had late lunch at Kyadon. Ended with Starbucks' Double Latte.

Welcome 2007.

Cherish the Moment

Assalamualaikum

9.55 PM.

Three minutes after a hard windy rain.

Stay on second gear, drive at 20 km per hour.

Put on soothing music, set the volume on 10.

Roll the window down a bit, feel the cool breeze runs through your hair.

Smell the wet of the earth, the sweet smell of wet grass, the faint smell of sewers.

Hear the tires stroll through the puddles, the subtle sound of splashes.

Close your eyes for a mere half of second.

Spoil your thoughts, let them run carelessly.

Cherish the moment.

Darn it!

Assalamualaikum

What is it with me and those 90's Brit bands??

Firstly, just when I had my cash ready to buy that IDR275,000 Stone Roses DVD I've been drooling over for months, it's gone.

Secondly, there were two of them last time I check. One on display and another on the shelf.

Thirdly, that last time was no more than 2 weeks ago.

Couldn't accept the fact, I spent extra 15 minutes browsing the DVD shelves, half hoping it was misplaced, until I finally asked the clerk and he told me what I'd thought he'd say: they've been bought. Sniff.

Yesternite, still hazed by the thought of almost having that DVD, I browsed amazon only to find that it'd cost me £11.44 or around 205,000 rupiahs to have the DVD sent to a friend who's still in the UK. Which means I wouldn't get my hands on it until a month later.

And while browsing, I stumbled upon some other CD/DVD's I'd also really like to get my hands on:
1. Seahorses - Do It Yourself £4.97
2. Mansun - Legacy: the Best of Mansun/+DVD £14.99
3. Shed Seven - Going for Gold £5.97
4. Manics - Everything Must Go: 10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition/+DVD £12.99

before I finally settled on Seahorses and Shed Seven with the following considerations:
1. Manics' Everything Must Go Deluxe Edition is definitely a Must Have, but not a Must Have Now, since I already have the original version.
2. Mansun is not really a must-have, but more like a would-like-to-have. And since I can get the CD version anytime for 167,000 rups in Beatz, I crossed this one from the list.

And so today I was ready to order Seahorses and Shed Seven for a total of £12.68. But, alas, bad luck strikes back! Just now I found out that they upped the price: Seahorses for £7.99 and Shed Seven for £8.99, which means it'd cost me a total of £18.72!! Bollocks.

Luckily a good ol' friend of mine consoled me and recommended buying from the marketplace. So he got me a total of no more than £7.50 for both. Of course, as everything else in this world, nothing comes for free: I agreed to pay a bit extra for the effort =P

Come to think of it, I went from almost spending 275rb, to 225rb, to 175rb. 'guess it's true that good things come to those who wait. Or to those who have friends who shop frequently at amazon. Haha.
