How To: Entertain Yourself when the Entertainment Centers are Somewhat Unreachable
Assalamualaikum
1. Prepare a magazine and a cup of coffee. Add a bit of music and sit by the window. Too bad it's entertaining only for an hour or so and then it gets boring.
2. I'd say, of course, the Great Reorganization. Unfortunately, after looking through almost every available ACE H/W stores around, I couldn't find that simple and sleek aluminum(?) CD shelf to add to my existing 3-story. The new CD's just have to sit around (read: cluttered) at the bedside table for a little while longer.
3. Now this is new: The Great Wardrobe Reorganization. Haha. Creative, huh? :P I actually wanted to redesign my wardrobe. Too bad I'd need a carpenter to do that, as tools and I, we weren't meant for each other.
A bit of a history lesson (warning: potentially boring stuff): the room I'm currently occupying wasn't really my room, it was initially my sister's. Naturally, I didn't quite agree with the paint, nor with the bathroom oceanic color, nor with the wardrobe. And I still don't. Yet somehow I managed to cope with it for about 2 years. Yes, sometimes I amaze myself.
So what I can do for now is to think of the design:
1. The Japanese sliding doors. My idea of having sliding doors, as with the wardrobe in my older room, is to have extra space compared to the usual western doors. Whilst my sister's doors, they consist of two sliding doors in the middle, and two western doors at the left and rightmost side of the wardrobe. So if I slide the door to the right, the rightmost column would be unreachable, even if I open the rightmost door. It's insane. So first thing to do is to get rid of the side doors and attach new sliding doors. Maybe I'll combine the Japanese-pattern door with the all wooden panel.
2. Extra space. My wardrobe is a built-in type, so it is attached to the walls. Now, I just realized, by comparing the wall outside of my room to the depth of my wardrobe, I should have an extra 20-cm space. So next thing to do would be to use all those space I can get. If that means removing the whole rear panel then so be it.
3. Lose the drawers. Drawers are soo last decade. Shelves and neatly arranged creme canvas baskets are the new drawers.
4. Make the existing 3-story shelf a 5-story shelf. The idea is to pile up my clothes to a certain height so as to make it easier to spot the clothes I need and to avoid the potential of having the upper piles get cluttered when I retrieve the lower ones. To do that, I'd need more shelves.
5. I haven't thought of anything else need to be renovated. Will write it down once I remember.
Wassalamualaikum
